Community Resilience Action Network of Erie (CRANE)
Engage the community using education and collaboration to identify climate vulnerabilities and implement proactive responses that preserve a vibrant and resilient region.
Who We Are
We are an alliance of several organizations in the region that have a commitment to developing a climate-conscious community through education, coordination, and implementation of projects that address climate change and build a resilient community. The core group includes NorthWest PA Green Economy Task Force (NWPAGE), Pennsylvania Sea Grant, Environment Erie, and Erie County.
Since 2013, CRANE has organized an annual summit to focus on one local sector that will likely have to adapt to climate changes. These annual meetings are designed to bring together stakeholders in these sectors to begin thinking about how climate related changes will impact the sector and to anticipate ways we can build resiliency. In 2017 we will focus on Agriculture, while previous summits have focused on Climate Impacts and Adaptation generally, the impact of Extreme Weather on emergency management systems and other infrastructure, and how local tourism may be impacted. See links below for more detailed information on each of these summits.
